Needless to say, it wasn't exactly legal.

On Friday, Jan. 19, police in Washington Township said they stopped a vehicle on Route 46 for displaying fictitious license plates, then found even more fake tags in the vehicle, officers said in a Facebook post.

The driver, an Englewood Cliffs resident who police did not identify, apparently had been using them to avoid paying tolls at various locations, police said.

He was charged with receiving stolen property and released pending a court appearance, police said.
